General FAQ
Cosmetic surgery is a unique discipline of medicine focused on enhancing appearance through surgical and medical techniques. Cosmetic surgery can be performed on all areas of the head, neck, and body. Because treated areas function properly but lack aesthetic appeal, cosmetic surgery is elective.
Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to the reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature.
The total price for any cosmetic surgery procedure at Venetian Medical Spa and Aesthetic Surgery includes: surgeon’s fees, anesthesia, operating room expenses, and any materials involved, such as breast implants and a patient care bag with the essentials to get you through the night before and a few days after your procedure, and all post-op follow up appointments. Each patient’s situation is unique, and the price for a procedure will vary depending on your specific needs and goals.
Keep in mind, while price should factor into your decision whether or not to have cosmetic surgery—after all, you need to be prepared to cover the costs—never choose a cosmetic surgeon based on price alone. Beware of any fee quote that sounds too good to be true: unscrupulous doctors offering discount cosmetic surgery may cut corners on operating room life safety measures or have inadequate support staff, making “bargain shopping” a very risky endeavor.
Insurance rarely covers the cost of elective cosmetic surgery done to improve appearance. Reconstructive surgery may be covered if it will improve your physical function or will correct a problem present from birth (congenital) or caused by an accident. But unless cosmetic surgery is done for medical reasons, you will be responsible for the payment. Currently, we do not take or file insurance for any procedure. We do offer financing options through Care Credit and Alpheon. We also accept cash, checks, or any major credit card.
Board certification is one of the many ways to determine a surgeon’s qualifications. It is important to ask your doctor about their credentials and study them carefully. Each certifying board has different requirements and measures a physician’s education and experience in different fields. Check your doctor’s board certification and professional society affiliation(s), and call the board or society to find out what the requirements are for membership.
With most cosmetic surgery procedures, patients can likely go back to work 1-2 weeks after surgery, but your swelling will be noticeable by those who know you well, especially if any type of liposuction procedure was done. Others who may not be so familiar with your face or figure will not be able to tell you have had surgery at two weeks. As a general rule of thumb, it can take 6-8 weeks for 80% of the swelling to subside after any type of surgery. The remainder of the inflammation and swelling will resolve in the following 4 months to a year. Keep in mind, no two people were created alike; therefore, each person heals and recovers at different rates. The above statistics are simply averages, and most of our cosmetic surgery patients will find their recovery and healing process on either side of the average.
