What is a Silhouette InstaLift?
(Lift, Contour, and Rejuvenate Without Surgery)
Silhouette InstaLift™ is a state-of-the-art facial rejuvenation procedure that addresses mild to moderate sagging in the mid-face and jowls. It works through a unique dual-action mechanism. First, it provides an immediate mechanical lift using specialized sutures with tiny, bidirectional cones that anchor and reposition the underlying facial tissue. Second, these sutures, made of a biocompatible material called PLGA, gradually dissolve while stimulating your body to produce new Type I and Type III collagen. This process restores lost volume and improves skin quality from within, creating a result that is both immediate and progressive.
The core of the Silhouette InstaLift™ technology is its innovative dual-action mechanism that provides both an immediate lift and long-term collagen production. This is achieved using specialized suspension sutures made from a fully resorbable, biocompatible polymer. These sutures feature unique bidirectional cones that anchor into the subcutaneous tissue to provide an immediate mechanical lift, repositioning the descended facial tissue. Concurrently, the material of the sutures and cones (PLLA and PLGA) stimulates the body's natural healing process, promoting the production of new collagen over time for gradual, natural-looking volumization. This integrated approach addresses both the structural sagging of facial tissue and the underlying loss of dermal support.

Benefits of a Silhouette InstaLift
Patients choose Silhouette InstaLift for its impressive, natural-looking results and minimal downtime. Key benefits include:
- Immediate Lift: You will see a visible lift in the contours of your face the moment the procedure is finished.
- Natural Collagen Production: The sutures are made from a biostimulatory material that your body naturally absorbs, triggering the production of new collagen for gradual, long-term volume and skin firming.
- Minimally Invasive: The treatment is performed in-office under local anesthesia, with no incisions or major surgery required.
- Minimal Downtime: Most patients are able to resume their normal, non-strenuous activities within 24 to 48 hours.
- Long-Lasting Results: The aesthetic benefits typically last between 12 and 24 months, with studies showing high patient satisfaction even at the two-year mark.
- Excellent Safety Profile: InstaLift is FDA-cleared and uses fully resorbable sutures with a long history of safe use in medicine.
Who is an Ideal Candidate for InstaLift?
The InstaLift procedure is a highly effective option for both men and women who are looking to address the signs of aging without surgery. You may be an ideal candidate if you:
- Have mild to moderate sagging in your cheeks, jowls, or mid-face area.
- Are looking for a more significant lift than dermal fillers can provide.
- Are not ready or willing to undergo a traditional surgical facelift.
- Have good skin quality that is not excessively heavy or too thin.
- Have a sufficient layer of subcutaneous fat to properly hold the sutures.
This treatment is not recommended for individuals with very severe sagging, very thin tissue, or known allergies to the suture materials.
What to Expect During Your InstaLift Treatment
Your Silhouette InstaLift journey at our spa is designed for comfort and outstanding results.
- Consultation and Mapping: Your treatment begins with a thorough consultation where our expert provider will assess your facial anatomy and discuss your aesthetic goals. They will then map out the precise placement of the sutures to create a natural, symmetrical lift.
- Anesthesia: To ensure your comfort, a local anesthetic will be injected at the suture entry and exit points. No general anesthesia is needed.
- Suture Placement: The provider will use a fine needle to place the InstaLift™ sutures into the subcutaneous fat layer, about 5mm deep.
- Lifting and Anchoring: Once the sutures are placed, gentle pressure is applied to the skin to engage the bidirectional cones, instantly lifting and securing the tissue in its new, elevated position. The entire in-office procedure typically takes about 45-60 minutes.
After the procedure, you may experience mild soreness, swelling, or bruising, which usually resolves within a few days. We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.
Ideal Candidates for a Silhouette InstaLift
A successful Silhouette InstaLift outcome depends heavily on proper patient selection. The procedure is not a one-size-fits-all solution and is tailored for those with specific signs of aging.
You may be an ideal candidate if you:
- Are a man or woman experiencing mild to moderate sagging in the mid-face, cheeks, or jowls.
- Have good skin quality that is not excessively heavy or too thin.
- Possess a subcutaneous fat layer that is thick enough to completely conceal the sutures and provide a stable medium for the cones to grip.
- Are seeking a noticeable lift but are not yet a candidate for, or are unwilling to undergo, a traditional surgical facelift.
This procedure should not be performed on patients with:
- A known allergy or hypersensitivity to the PLLA and PLGA implant materials.
- Active sepsis or an infection near the treatment area.
- An active or a history of autoimmune disease.
- Very thin soft tissue where the implant could be seen or felt.
- Excessively heavy skin or severe sagging where the lift would be insufficient.
- Individuals under the age of 18, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What to Expect During Recovery
The recovery period is a critical "setting" phase where the mechanical lift is secured, and patient compliance with aftercare instructions is essential for success. While downtime is minimal, with most patients resuming normal activities within 24 to 48 hours, there are specific guidelines to follow.
- Immediately After: It is common to experience temporary and minor side effects such as mild pain or soreness for one to two days, along with some swelling and bruising. You can apply wrapped cold packs to the area to reduce swelling and take acetaminophen for any mild discomfort.
- First Few Days: You should plan to sleep face-up with your head elevated on pillows for the first 3-5 nights to avoid putting pressure on the sutures. For at least 24 hours, you should avoid applying makeup or washing your face and hair. Some patients may notice temporary skin irregularities like dimpling or a slight depression at the suture entry points, which typically smooth out within a few days as the threads settle.
- First 1-2 Weeks: You will need to be very gentle when washing or drying your face, using gentle upward strokes. It is important to avoid hard or chewy foods, excessive facial movements like wide yawning, high-impact sports, alcohol, and direct sun exposure.
- Weeks 3-4: Saunas, dental surgery, and other facial aesthetic treatments should be avoided for at least three to four weeks.
How Long Does a Silhouette InstaLift Last?
The aesthetic benefits of a Silhouette InstaLift™ treatment typically last between 12 and 24 months. The results unfold in two phases. First, a noticeable lift is visible immediately following the procedure due to the mechanical suspension of the tissue. Over the subsequent 3 to 6 months, results continue to improve as the PLLA/PLGA material stimulates new collagen growth, which restores facial volume and firms the skin.
The longevity of the effect can vary based on the patient's age, skin condition, lifestyle, and the number of sutures that were used. Clinical data supports the duration of these results, with one study showing that 71% of patients were still satisfied with their outcome at the 24-month mark.
The procedure is generally well-tolerated. A local anesthetic is used to numb the treatment area, so most patients experience minimal discomfort. Any mild soreness afterward can be managed with acetaminophen.
